The quiet risk

You knew it was coming.
That's what makes it worse.

These aren't to-dos you forgot. They're deadlines you saw approaching — and a single notification wasn't enough to make you act.

One ping, gone

Calendars notify once

A single alert at 9am, dismissed in a meeting, never seen again. The deadline keeps approaching in silence.

Real consequences

The stakes aren't trivial

A lapsed passport, an expired work permit, a gap in coverage. Some deadlines can't be rescheduled after the fact.

Months apart

Too far to hold in mind

Renewals land once a year or once a decade. No one keeps a date that distant reliably in their head.

How it works

Set it once. We carry it from there.

Four steps to hand a deadline to a system that won't let it slip.

1

Create a reminder

Name the deadline — passport, work permit, policy — and add the due date. That's the entire form.

2

Choose your reminder schedule

Light, Standard, Frequent, or Maximum. We calculate exactly when to start nudging you.

3

Get notified

Email arrives at the right intervals. Add SMS and a backup contact with Plus or a Priority Reminder.

4

Take action

Mark it done, snooze, or reschedule. Reminders follows up until it's genuinely handled.

The follow-up

It doesn't stop until you do.

One reminder becomes a schedule. Each nudge arrives closer to the deadline — 90, 60, 30, 7 and 1 days before — and the system keeps going until you confirm it's handled.

Miss one and we don't give up — the next nudge is already scheduled.

Use cases

Built for dates that are easy to lose.

Life-admin deadlines and professional follow-ups that matter enough to need a real reminder.

Why it's different

A system, not another notification.

Persistent reminders

Not a single ping. A schedule — 90, 60, 30, 7, 1 days before — that keeps going until you act.

Purpose-built schedules

Light, Standard, Frequent, Maximum — proven schedules for life-admin, not generic alerts.

Snooze, reschedule, or done

Clear actions on every reminder. Silence one notification, update the date, or close it out.

Backup contact

If you don't respond, a backup contact can be notified — so critical deadlines never slip.

Privacy-first, by design

No document uploads, no sensitive data. Just a title, a due date, and an email address — that's all Reminders ever needs. The minimal data model isn't a setting; it's the architecture.

Questions

Answered plainly.

The honest version of how Reminders works, what it costs, and what it never asks for.

What is Reminders?

Reminders by Very Simple Systems is a persistent reminder service for important life-admin deadlines — passport renewals, work permits, insurance policies, licenses and prescriptions. Unlike a calendar, it follows up repeatedly (90, 60, 30, 7 and 1 days before the deadline) and doesn't stop until you confirm the task is handled. It stores only a title and a date.

How does Reminders work?

You create a reminder with a title and a due date, then choose a reminder schedule — Light, Standard, Frequent or Maximum. Reminders calculates when to start notifying you and sends email reminders at the right intervals. Add SMS and a backup contact with Plus or a Priority Reminder. The system keeps following up until you mark it done, snooze, or reschedule.

How is Reminders different from a calendar app?

A calendar shows you what's coming and notifies you once. Reminders is a dedicated follow-up system: it follows a fixed schedule and keeps reaching out until you confirm the deadline is handled. It's built specifically for rare, high-stakes life-admin deadlines, not day-to-day scheduling.

How much does Reminders cost?

Free gives you 3 email-only reminders up to 2 years ahead. Plus is $8/month for 50 reminders, repeat schedules, SMS, backup contacts and up to 10 years ahead. A Priority Reminder is a $5 one-time charge for a single important deadline up to 5 years ahead, with optional SMS and backup contact.

Do I need to upload my passport or documents?

Never. Reminders only needs a due date and your email address. It doesn't store or request document images, ID numbers or other sensitive identification data. The minimal title-and-date data model is the product's architecture, not a setting.

What happens if I ignore a reminder?

Reminders follows up. Free reminders use standard email follow-up. A Priority Reminder can also send SMS and notify a backup contact if you don't respond, depending on what you selected before checkout. The system keeps following up until you confirm the task is handled.

Is SMS available?

Yes — for Priority Reminders and Plus subscribers. SMS is currently limited to the US and Canada (+1 country code) and you must verify your phone number before SMS reminders are sent.
